Top 10 Tea Consuming Countries

Probably, you haven’t thought about the fact that tea is the most popular beverage in the world next to water. 80% of homes have some form of tea that can be found in them.

Let’s talk about the actual numbers!

Surprisingly, the number 1 in our list is Turkey. It has not only cut adrift from the rest, but confidently gone ahead. The people in Turkey drink 3.16 kg of tea annually. Such popularity is probably thanks to coffee cost rose in the same time with first tea imports to the country.

Second place takes Ireland. The consumption rate here is 2.19 kg per person every year. If you were living in such a cold country you would be drinking as much tea as Ireland people do.

The third place is taken by the United Kingdom. The people there drink 1.94 kg every year. UK drinking tea culture has a long history that began in the 17th century as a health beverage (read about that in our History of the Tea).

Tea has lots of benefits beginning from warming and ending with health, so there is nothing strange in it’s great popularity.
